NEREUS AT A GLANCE
Industrial development, intensive farming and growing urbanization contribute to increased energy and clean water needs. According to the United Nations, in 2025, the average quantity of available fresh water per resident and per year is forecast to fall from 6 600 to 4 800m3. Experts estimate that there will be 5 times more people on Earth suffering from severe water scarcity than today, which will represents 35% of the total population.
Because water and energy are often linked, NEREUS focuses on the recovery and recycling of these two essential goods.
OUR VISION
We note that:
> Bioenergy production and livestock farming can have a negative impact on water resources
> Conventional water recycling solutions consume a lot of energy
> Many effluents are still too often considered as a source of waste and pollution.
It is with these facts that we have chosen to design and build inventions that are useful for sustainable development and that aim to ensure that all liquid waste can be recovered as much as possible.
Clean and unpolluted water is becoming increasingly rare: in addition to saving it, it is necessary to obtain it by using less and less energy.
WHY NEREUS
Nereus, nicknamed the old man of sea, takes its name from one of the oldest Greek divinity. He is the son of Pontus, god of sea, and Gaïa, mother of Earth. This name is the core of our mission: recover water in order to protect the Earth.
